Bonke says he could still sign new deal at Malmo – Score Nigeria
Innocent Bonke has said he would love to stay put at Malmo FF after initial reports suggested he had rejected an extension offered him by the Swedish champions.
Just over three weeks ago, SportExpressen reported that Bonke, 25, will probably be on his way from Malmo after the season after he was reportedly not happy with the new contract MFF offered.
In an interview with Sydsvenskan, Bonke said that he had previously considered leaving the top Allsvenskan club, when he did not get much playing time.
“Yes sometimes. That’s what I mean by ‘sorrows’. There is a lot going on in my head. You work hard and try to show but do not get the chance, then the thoughts come easily,” he said.
The 25-year-old has now said he could still extend his contract with Malmo.
“Malmö is home for me. I obviously want to stay here,” he further said in the interview.
“We are in talks, but have not reached an agreement yet. It should be good for both the club and for me.”
Following the Champions League match against Chelsea, fans called on Innocent to sign a new contract.
“I appreciate that. I have always felt their support and love. They have always been behind me and the team,” he told Sydsvenskan.
