Flying Eagles pass NPFL test with 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists – Score Nigeria

The Flying Eagles today passed their first NPFL test when they beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 in a friendly preparatory to next year’s U20 AFCON in Egypt.

The Flying Eagles were ruthless against academies in their first six friendlies, which they won comfortably while recording 35 goals and letting in only one.

Coach Ladan Bosso lined up his best team and they took the lead late in the first half through a well-taken free kick on the edge of the box by Olamilekan Adams.

Watched by several top NFF officials led by general secretary Mohammed Sanusi, the Flying Eagles bossed the game with Dominion Ohaka, Daniel Daga, hard-running centre-forward Ayuba Francis and captain Ibrahim Yahaya catching the eye.

Wikki chased the game in the second half, but the Flying Eagles defence marshaled by Benjamin Fredrick was resolute before substitute striker Segun Otusanya cashed in on a goalkeeping blunder to double the national team’s lead late in the game.

Substitute winger Jude Sunday was thorn in the flesh for the Wikki defence with his mesmerising dribbles down both flanks.

The Flying Eagles will tomorrow face another NPFL test when they take on Nasarawa United by 4pm at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, before a final test game against Lobi Stars Saturday morning.
