Inter Milan to Win
It has been 17 years since the last time these teams met, and a year longer as far as the official competitions are concerned. Inter has been a constant in Italian football winning titles in recent years, and they will look to protect their home field when Porto comes to town. This Inter Milan vs Porto prediction is relevant to the current form of both teams playing for the title in their home countries. The Serie A title is all but decided with Napoli taking a 15-point lead at the top, but for Inter it is important to realize that they have managed to improve their form in recent weeks and move to the second position. Porto is on a ten-match winning streak and moving closer to Benfica who leads the league. Inter hasn’t passed through the last 16 phases of the Champions League since the season 2010/2011, and they will feel this is their big chance to play against a team they can outduel. Inter has lost just once in their last 12 official matches at San Siro.
Under 2.5 Goals
Porto has been scoring goals relentlessly this season, both in the Portuguese league, as well as the first stage of the Champions League. But, this match-up will be more about what Inter Milan can do to subdue the attacking options of their opponents. Inter managed to have four ‘under’ games in the group stage next to Barcelona and Bayern, the latter winning the group. When it comes to the league form in the over/under aspect ahead of the Inter Milan vs Porto match, the visiting side hasn’t been getting a lot of ‘over’ games as an away team. They had eight under 2.5 goals matches in eleven games played this season, while Inter at home had six in the same number of games, but also four in a row. So, given the circumstances, the under 2.5 goals bet seems like a viable option at this point.

Preview, Team News, and Inter Milan vs Porto LineupsInter Milan
The Italian side had one of the toughest journey’s through the group stage considering they had to face the unstoppable Bundesliga machine Bayern, and Barcelona who struggled even though spending a lot of money on some of Europe’s most exciting players last summer. Inter pushed through to win three games, and two of those came against the weakest team in the group, Viktoria Plzen. They lost both games to Bayern but managed to outsmart Barcelona winning by a single goal difference at home, and getting an incredible 3-3 score in Spain. In Italy, Inter has all but given up on their title credentials with Napoli leading the league with 15 point advantage over the Milan outfit. When it comes to Inter’s injury list, Joaquin Correa is the only player missing out.
Predicted lineup: Onana, Skriniar, de Vrij, Acerbi, Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Gosens, Martinez, Dzeko.
Porto
The Portuguese league is not as strong as Serie A, but Porto proved that they can compete with the best teams in Europe. They coasted through the group stage even though they suffered a stunning loss in their first game against the Belgian champions Club Brugge, it was 0-4, but they avenged that defeat a couple of months later. Porto will look to Mehdi Taremi as the main threat to Inter’s goal. The talented Iranian striker has seen plenty of action this season scoring important goals throughout the first part of the season. Porto’s form has been top-notch since the new year began, they have ten wins and a draw in all competitions domestically, and are fighting with Benfica for the title trailing by five points thus far. However, for the match against Inter, they have plenty of injury problems: Fabio Cardoso, Evanilson, Gabriel Veron, Otavio, and Francisco Meixedo won’t be playing in the first leg.
Predicted lineup: Costa, Joao Mario, Pepe, Marcano, Zaidu, Pepê, Grujic, Uribe, Galeno, Taremi, Franco.
Starting lineups
Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.
Player to Watch: Lautaro Martinez
The newly crowned World Champion with Argentina, Lautaro Martinez has been the most impressive player for Inter in the last few years accumulating over 200 appearances with more than 80 goals scored. He has been tipped to make a big transfer in the last couple of years, but nothing materialized thus far. Martinez will be looking to continue his excellent form against Porto.
