‘It’s time for revenge’ – Iheanacho talks tough ahead of Leicester’s clash against Newcastle :: All Nigeria Soccer

Kelechi Iheanacho has explained why Leicester City are seeking revenge when they face Newcastle United in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup at St James’ Park on Tuesday night.

The two clubs are facing each other again, fifteen days after the Magpies recorded a convincing 3-0 win over the Foxes in a Premier League game at the King Power Stadium.

Fresh from scoring his sixteenth career goal in the FA Cup, Iheanacho spoke about Leicester City’s ambitions for the Carabao Cup, a competition he won as a Manchester City player in his first full season as a professional.

Brendan Rodgers’ team are aiming to reach the last four of the Carabao Cup for the first time in three years.

“It’s a great competition as well, the cup. Playing them now, obviously it’s time for revenge because they beat us in the [Premier League],” Iheanacho said to Leicester City’s official webpage.

“We’re going there to fight and to make sure we get the win. It will be a tough game for us but hopefully we can get through.”

Iheanacho noted that Newcastle United will pose a test for the Foxes given their form in the Premier League and had kind words for manager Eddie Howe.

“They (Newcastle) are very different now. Firstly, their manager (Eddie Howe) is doing a great job – the players as well. They are a very, very strong side so we’ve got to play well. Hopefully we can give them a good game and go through.”

Iheanacho has also showcased his goalscoring prowess in the Carabao Cup, with nine goals in twenty one appearances since making his debut in the competition against Crystal Palace in October 2015.
