Liverpool vs Wolves: FW Predictions

Premier League predictions ahead of Liverpool vs Wolves on Wednesday night at Anfield. Both of these teams picked up disappointing draws in games they should have won at the weekend and we’re expecting another close game as Liverpool look to avenge their 3-0 defeat at Molineux in early February.

Liverpool to Win-to-Nil

For our first Liverpool vs Wolves prediction, we’re backing a home win and a clean sheet. Liverpool have won five of their last seven meetings with Wolves and have kept clean sheets in four of those victories. The hosts have also kept clean sheets in their last three league games, while Wolves have failed to score in three of their last six outings in all competitions.

Our second Liverpool vs Wolves prediction regards the total goals scored during the 90-minutes. We’re expecting a low-scoring match on Wednesday as three of the last six encounters between the two clubs in league and cup have witnessed under 2.5 goals scored. Three of Liverpool’s last four matches and three of Wolves’ last six outings have also ended with fewer than three goals being scored.

Liverpool vs Wolves LineupsLiverpool

Liverpool made the trip to Crystal Palace last weekend looking to bounce back from their heavy defeat in midweek against Real Madrid. However, the game turned out to be a drab affair in the end with neither side able to carve out a single goal between them, but Palace will have been the happier of the two clubs to secure a point. Ramsey, Thiago and Diaz have been ruled out of the midweek game through injury while there are also some doubts over Gomez, Konate, Nunez and Melo.

Predicted lineup – Alisson (GK), Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Henderson, Keïta, Salah, Jota & Gakpo

Wolves

Wolves gave a really good account of themselves in the first-half away at Fulham, taking the lead through Sarabia in the 23rd-minute. However, a failure to take any of their further chances ended up costing Wolves 2pts in this game as Solomon came off the bench to score yet another important goal for the Londoners in the 64th-minute and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Kalajdzic, Chinquinho, Hwang, Boubacar Traore and Cunha ar ethe main injury concerns for the visitors ahead of the trip to Anfield.

Predicted lineup – Sá (GK), Dawson, Semedo, Kilman, Bueno, Sarabia, Lemina, Neves, Nunes, Jiménez & Cunha

Starting Lineups

*Lineups are usually announced 1hr before kick-off

Player to Watch: Cody Gakpo

Liverpool might not have been firing on all cylinders this season but one player who is slowly improving week in, and week out is their January signing from PSV, Cody Gakpo.

The Dutch international has scored 2-goals in 6 games so far and both of those strikes arrived in his last three Premier League appearances. Usually, by this stage of the season, Salah is well into double figures in league goals but no Liverpool player has hit double figures in the Premier League so far and that has produced a need for goals from multiple areas of the squad.

Gakpo showed at the World Cup that he can play as an out-and-out striker and while there is plenty of competition for that place in the Liverpool lineup, the Dutchman’s recent performances make him one of their most likely goalscorers in the midweek game against Wolves.
