Today’s Predictions and Odds for Man City vs Everton

Man City will be expected to cruise to victory in the Premier League this weekend when they play host to a struggling Everton side. The Toffees have no goals in them and look void of all confidence following a last-gasp defeat against fellow relegation battlers Wolves on Boxing Day.

Man City to Win-to-Nil

We can’t see this game ending in anything but a win and a clean sheet for Guardiola’s men, in fact, we expect Everton to crumble. Man City have won their last 10 games against the Toffees and haven’t conceded a single goal in any of the pair’s last four head-to-heads. City are in form having won five of their last six competitive and non-competitive matches, while Everton haven’t won a league game since October.

Erling Haaland to Score First

Erling Haaland moved on to 20 league goals for the campaign during Man City’s last match against Leeds, and we’re backing the young Norwegian forward to open the scoring against Everton on New Year’s Eve. Haaland has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and is by far the best striker in the division and only seems to get better with each match that comes. The Everton defence looks very frail right now and that was the only thing they had going in their favour during the early stages of the season, so Haaland will get plenty of chances to score in this game.

What will the lineups be for this New Year’s Eve fixture?Man City

City made the trip to Yorkshire to face Leeds last time out where a goal in first-half stoppage-time from Rodri put the visitors 1-0 up at the break. Haaland scored early in the second forty-five to end any realistic hopes of a comeback for the home side and then netted his second of the game in the 64th-minute to wrap up the 3pts. Struijk pulled a goal back for Leeds 17-minutes from time but it was no more than a consolation. Julian Alvarez and Ruben Dias are expected to miss the Everton game as they did the Leeds match.

Predicted Lineup: Ederson (GK), Aké, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo, Gündoğan, De Bruyne, Foden, Rodri, Mahrez & Haaland

Everton

Everton were probably the better side against Wolves but in truth, it was a game played between two very poor Premier League sides. An early corner was headed home by Mina to hand Everton a 1-goal lead but Wolves equalised through Podence in the 22nd-minute. The game looked like it was going to finish all square despite Everton creating a couple of really good chances that should have been converted, but deep into stoppage-time, Wolves caught Everton on the counter attack and scrambled the ball home to pinch all 3pts. Garner, Calvert-Lewin, Mina and Townsend could all miss the trip to the Etihad through injury but Coady will return to the starting lineup.

Predicted Lineup: Pickford (GK), Tarkowski, Coady, Mykolenko, Patterson, Gueye, Onana, Maupay, Iwobi, Gordon & Gray

Starting Lineups

Player to Watch: Erling Haaland

There can only be one player to watch in this game and that is the goal machine, Erling Haaland.

The 22-year-old Man City striker has netted 20-goals in the Premier League this season and we’re not even at the halfway point yet. Having had a 6-week break due to Norway not qualifying for the World Cup, it’s frightening to think just how many goals Haaland could score this season.

We’ve backed the lanky striker to score first against Everton this weekend and wouldn’t at all be surprised if he went on to net another hat trick.

The Everton defence will be quaking in their boots and it should be a lot of fun for the City fans and the neutrals to watch.
