Man Utd among trio tracking Tielemans, Man City eye AC Milan star

Manchester United can expect competition from Spain’s big-hitters if they want to sign Youri Tielemans next summer, while City are eyeing a Milan left-back…

You’d think Fabrizio Romano might be spending a fortnight or so either on a beach or lying down in a darkened room after the closure of the summer window. But, no, he’s back in his transfers bunker trying to ramp up the rumours for next summer.

Chief among them being interest in Youri Tielemans. Apparently, it’s coming from everywhere.

Principally Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United. The story goes that all three clubs are monitoring the Belgium midfielder’s predicament while Leicester attempt – currently in vain – to tie him down to a new deal.

United’s interest is set to hinge on Paul Pogba. The France star is set to leave Old Trafford next year for free and Real, we assume, would prefer Pogba for nothing having already spent good money on Eduardo Camavinga.

Big Weekend: Ronaldo, Leeds v Liverpool, Leicester, Arteta

Before that, Leicester could pull off a coup of their own…

According to Calciomercato, the Foxes have already held ‘in-depth’ discussions with Sassuolo over Domenico Berardi with a view to a deal in January.

The Italy winger was available for most of last summer at around £34million but the Serie A side could accept £30million in the new year.

Leicester are not the only club sniffing around Berardi – AC Milan are also keen. But the Foxes are currently the frontrunners.

Seven second debuts ahead of Ronaldo’s Man Utd return

Ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United return on Saturday, reports have emerged over why the Portugal star isn’t preparing for his Manchester City debut instead.

Guillem Ballague says Ronaldo was very keen to join City from Juventus and the deal was all but complete. The only stumbling block was the need for City to sell a forward first.

Apparently, City tried hard to shift one of their other forwards, and interest was forthcoming from Barcelona in Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus or Bernardo Silva. But since City weren’t minded to give their players away for nothing, Barca could not help.

When it became clear that they would be unable to make the necessary sale, Ronaldo was content to accept United’s offer, which involved a higher salary than he would have earned at the Etihad, even if it still represented a pay cut on his Juve deal.

City have turned their attention now to Theo Hernandez…

The Sun reports that Pep Guardiola wants another left-back – Pep always wants a full-back – with Oleksandr Zinchenko his only left-sided option amid Benjamin Mendy’s absence.

Calciomercato says Hernandez ‘likes’ the prospect of moving to City from AC Milan, where he still has three years remaining on his current contract.
