Manchester United settle for Rangnick as interim coach
Manchester United are set to appoint Ralf Rangnick their new interim boss, multiple sources said on Thursday.
There has been no club statement by United confirming the appointment, but reports by UK newspapers said the club and Rangnick have reached an agreement.
According to The Athletic, the German will sign a six-month deal at Old Trafford and is subject to Rangnick’s current club Lokomotiv Moscow agreeing to release him from his contract.
The 63-year-old German currently serves as head of sports and development for the Russian side.
Following his six-month spell as manager, Rangnick will be retained for a further two years in a consultancy role, the reports said.
Since United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week, the club has been in search of both an interim and a permanent replacement.
Michael Carrick served as United caretaker manager in the Champions League match away against Villarreal on Tuesday. United won 2-0.
