Manchester United’s fall from grace underlined by their HUGE odds to win the title

The scale of the task facing prospective Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been underlined by the latest Premier League title odds. The Red Devils are a hefty 100/1 with Planet Sport Bet to win the league having been just 11/2 in September.

In those heady late summer days, Cristiano Ronaldo was the man to turn last season's runners-up into serial winners and the optimism was reflected in the 5/2 about him becoming the Premier League's top scorer. Ronaldo, with only one league goal since September, is now out to 9/1, while a third PFA Player of Year win also looks out of reach at 8/1.

The gulf between United and the top three may only be eight points but it is a chasm as far as the bookies are concerned. A three-figure price to win the league, the Red Devils are just 11/10 to sneak a top-four finish. Current incumbents West Ham are 10/3.

And despite currently sitting in eighth, United who are reported to be in advanced talks with Rangnick, are considered nailed on for a top-six finish at 2/9.

At the top, Chelsea continue to set the pace, with their 3-0 win at Leicester last weekend maintaining their three-point advantage over Manchester City. Liverpool are a further point adrift after thrashing Arsenal 4-0.

However, it was the manner of City's 3-0 win at Everton last Sunday which most impressed the bookies.

The champions, who are six points better off than they were at this stage last season, are now in to 8/11 with Planet Sport Bet to retain their title, with Chelsea 9/4 and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool 9/2.

The Reds do have the leading contender for both the goalscorer accolade and the PFA Player of the Year in Mo Salah, however. Salah, with 11 goals from 12 games, is 8/11 to finish the campaign as top goalscorer and is available at the same odds to pick his second PFA award.

Reigning Premier League Golden Boot winner Harry Kane, meanwhile, is out to 18/1 to finish top goalscorer having netted just once in his 11 top-flight appearances this season. You can get 33/1 on Kane turning his season around and picking up the PFA award.
