Olufunwa scores his first goal in a Liverpool shirt despite playing out of position v PSG U21s:: All Nigeria Soccer
Versatile Super Eagles-eligible central defender Oludare Olufunwa scored his first goal in a Liverpool shirt as the Reds U21s team thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 4-2 in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday night.
Olufunwa has not played much since his arrival at the Anfield club following his release by boyhood club Southampton last summer, making only two appearances in the Papa Johns Trophy before the visit of PSG to Merseyside.
Liverpool were in control of the game at halftime, scoring three goals without reply through Billy Koumetio (2) and Luke Chambers.
Olufunwa increased the lead to four just past the hour mark from a corner, before the French team grabbed two late consolation goals.
The 21-year-old, who is predominantly a central defender, was played out of position against Paris Saint-Germain, slotting in at right-back for the entirety of the game.
Olufunwa was on the books of Southampton for eleven years before transferring to Liverpool following a successful trial.
He models his game after Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk, who used to play for Southampton.
