Real Madrid learn Kylian Mbappe price as initial £137m bid rejected by PSG

Real Madrid have reportedly made their move for Kylian Mbappe, who has told Paris Saint-Germain he wants to leave the club this summer.

The World Cup winner’s future has been in doubt ever since Lionel Messi’s arrival in Paris.

And that situation is said to have ramped up Madrid’s resolve to get a deal done this summer, rather than waiting until Mbappe is available on a free transfer next year.

Mbappe recently snubbed PSG’s offer of a five year contract extension with the option of a sixth and significant pay rise – an offer that still would have left the forward third in the salary ranks below Messi and Neymar.

He’s now said to have told PSG he wants to leave the club.

The Sun claim the Spanish giants have made a £137million bid for the 22-year-old, but that is still less than the £162million PSG paid to land him from Monaco in 2017.

And ESPN claim that opening offer has been ‘immediately rejected’ by PSG, but they ‘have finally shown a willingness to negotiate’.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly willing to let Mbappe move on if his £171m (€200m) valuation is met.

Despite that report, the Ligue 1 side’s president believes there is no reason for Mbappe not to prolong his stay at the Parcs des Princes.

He said: “I think everybody knows the future of Kylian, people from Paris and the players, he’s a competitive player, he wants to win, to win trophies, he’s said it in public.

“He said he wants a competitive team and I think we’ve got the most competitive team in the world, so there’s no excuse for him now if it comes to anything else but staying.”

The potential move would prevent PSG fans seeing Mbappe working in tandem with Neymar and Messi, who is relishing the opportunity to play with the Frenchman and his former Barcelona teammate.

The Argentine said: “It’s madness to be able to work with such great players on a daily basis.”

He added: “PSG have made spectacular signings on top of the players that were already here.

“I’m eager to get playing and I’m going to be doing it alongside some of the best players in the world.

“It’s going to be a marvellous experience every day. I hope I can continue to win titles. I have the same hunger as when I was younger.”
