Real Madrid considering a move for Manchester United star who is leaving the door open for move

Real Madrid considering a move for Manchester United star who is leaving the door open for move

Real Madrid are considering making a move for Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes has quickly become one of Manchester United’s key players since joining the club. The Portuguese midfielder is a fan favourite at Old Trafford and he’s continued his fine form for Portugal during the World Cup.

There’s an argument for Fernandes being Portugal’s most important player so far during the tournament, and his displays are bound to attract the interest of clubs around Europe.

Now, according to Record, via Sport Witness, Real Madrid are one of the clubs showing an interest in the Manchester United midfielder.

The report claims that although Fernandes is happy at United, he would consider a move if he believes it’s a step forward.

Real Madrid, after winning the Champions League last season, would be a step up for Fernandes, with Manchester United not performing to the level we usually expect from them.

Fernandes is under contract until 2026 and will undoubtedly be indispensable, so it could take a hefty transfer fee to prise him away from Old Trafford.

After a year without a club, forgotten Super Eagles star eye Real Zaragoza move

After a year without a club, forgotten Super Eagles star eye Real Zaragoza move

The former Nigeria international has six caps for the Super Eagles but has not featured for the 2013 African champions since 2019

Free agent Ramon Azeez is interested in teaming up with Spanish Segunda Division side Real Zaragoza if reports from the country’s media are anything to go by.

Azeez has been without a club since August 31, 2021, when Granada terminated his contract.

Despite his tremendous experience in Spanish football, Azeez has not been able to attract serious suitors over the last two transfer windows.

A combative defensive midfielder, Azeez has 71 La Liga games, and 105 Segunda Division matches under his belt, with four goals scored in each championship.

And according to Sport Aragon, the 29-year-old enforcer has sanctioned his agents to open up a negotiations channel with Real Zaragoza.

Consequently, Azeez has been offered to the six-time Copa Del Rey winners in recent weeks.

It is believed that Real Zaragoza have not given Azeez’s representatives a clear answer, though. While the Aragon-based club values the possibilities offered by the player and his experience, they have postponed any transfer move until the winter.

A Nigeria international since 2014, Azeez has six caps for the Super Eagles. The former Almeria star’s last game for Nigeria, though, was as a second-half substitute in a 4-2 win away to Lesotho in November 2019.

Rumour Has It: Real Madrid identify Benfica´s Enzo Fernandez as new top target

Rumour Has It: Real Madrid identify Benfica´s Enzo Fernandez as new top target

Real Madrid have reportedly pivoted away from Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and are now treating Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez as their top transfer target.

Bellingham, 19, was considered the top priority for the Spanish giants, but a report from Marca claims they now believe he is destined for the Premier League and will instead focus their resources on 21-year-old Fernandez.

Fernandez arrived at Benfica in June after they were able to pry him away from River Plate for a deal worth up to €18million including add-ons, but his exploits on the Champions League stage – including assists against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus – have that price looking like a steal.

TOP STORY – REAL MADRID SET THEIR SIGHTS ON ARGENTINA’S NEW STAR

Fernandez was handed his international debut as a 20-year-old back in November 2021, and his continued growth on the European stage earned his spot in Argentina’s World Cup squad.

Not content to purely come along for the ride, Fernandez was brought on as a substitute in each of his side’s first two group games, and against Mexico he became Argentina’s youngest goalscorer at a World Cup since Lionel Messi in 2006.

His ability to both break into and perform for such a quality international side – entering the tournament on a 35-match unbeaten streak before falling to Saudi Arabia – has reportedly sent Fernandez’s transfer value through the roof.

Marca’s report claims he is now viewed as a €100m talent by Benfica, and they expect to field offers in that neighbourhood soon.

ROUND-UP

– According to Relevo, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag views the Netherlands’ World Cup hero Cody Gakpo as his ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

– Fichajes is reporting Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all showing interest in 22-year-old Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus amid his excellent performances for Ghana.

– Bayern Munich remain interested in Tottenham’s Harry Kane and are working on an offer between €80-100m, per Sky Sports Germany.

– The Sun is reporting Chelsea are not happy with both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga and will look to bring in a new first-choice goalkeeper.

– With Rafael Leao likely leaving Milan at the end of the season, Gazzetta dello Sport claims they will try to fill the void with RB Salzburg’s 22-year-old Swiss international Noah Okafor.

Liverpool among 12 clubs interested in Kudus but £86m midfielder could be Real target

Liverpool among 12 clubs interested in Kudus but £86m midfielder could be Real target

Mohammed Kudus is going to get one hell of a move on the back of this World Cup, with Liverpool among some big clubs who are interested. They might not get Enzo Fernandez though.

KUDUS QUEUE GROWS
No sooner have we published a story to say that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have joined Everton, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Lyon, Napoli and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus, than more gossip emerges about the Ghanaian who impressed us against South Korea on Friday.

This time it comes from Fichajes, who say that there are four big clubs interested in Kudus, who has scored ten goals already this season for Ajax. They are Liverpool, who see him as a replacement for Sadio Mane (didn’t they already replace him with Luis Diaz?), Real Madrid, Chelsea (who could spend, spend, spend in January) and PSG.

It’s fair to say that Everton – who almost signed him last summer – no longer have a chance.

ENZO IS REAL BELLINGHAM BACK-UP
Liverpool are being strongly linked with Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez but in Spain, they believe that Liverpool will get England man Jude Bellingham so Real Madrid have targeted the Benfica man as an alternative.

Marca say that Real were close to signing Fernandez in the summer – when he joined Benfica for around £10m – but backed out because they did not have a non-EU place available and they were worried about his transition to Europe. But in just a few months he has established himself in a Benfica side that has impressed in the Champions League.

The only problem is that with every performance at the World Cup – he came off the bench v Mexico and scored – his price is rising, with Benfica believing they can get around £86m for the 21-year-old.

RASHFORD TO GET NEW DEAL
That’s the tweet from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Three goals in three World Cup games for Marcus Rashford – looks completely different player in the last few months.

▫️ Current deal expires in June 2023;
▫️ Man United have option to extend until June 2024;
▫️ …but Man United will offer him new long term deal.’

And they absolutely should. For all the talk of interest in the very impressive Cody Gakpo, they have Marcus Rashford already at the club and already looking a wildly different player. He has now scored three goals at this World Cup after a start to the season which saw him claim eight goals and three assists for Manchester United.

‘The finish of a real marksman’ –  Ex-Nigeria striker praises Senegal defender’s goal v Ecuador

Senegal’s second and decisive goal against Ecuador in Tuesday’s last round of matches in Group A of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 scored by Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly was described by former Nigeria international Efan Ekoku as being the quality of a marksman.

Ekoku was one of the English commentators for the game won 2-1 by the African champions which sees them qualifying for the round of 16 stage of the World Cup.

In his analysis of the goal, the co-commentator affirmed that Senegal were never in a comfortable lead after going ahead.

“All I can say is that you’re never more vulnerable than when you just scored,” Ekoku, who was on commentary duty for the World Cup world feed, said.

“But just as Senegal were culpable in being a, little absent-minded defensively, equally so Ecuador.

“The ball beats five or six player, you just have to react. Kalidou Koulibaly with the movement of a striker and the finish of a real marksman. He didn’t slash out of the ball, he coolly side-footed it,” the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Nigeria enthused.

Ekoku in similar vein was very impressed by the execution of the penalty by Ismaila Sarr which had put the Teranga Lions ahead.

Senegal will face the winners of Group B in the round of 16.

Uruguay unlikely to shift Real Madrid star Valverde forward after consecutive scoreless outings

Uruguay unlikely to shift Real Madrid star Valverde forward after consecutive scoreless outings

Uruguay head coach Diego Alonso believes his Real Madrid star Federico Valverde is best suited as a defensive midfielder, but that the team will need to perform better as a whole to allow him to “shine more”.

Alonso’s comments came after Monday’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Portugal, leaving Uruguay alongside Mexico and Tunisia as the only teams without a goal through two matches.

Following their failure to score in their 0-0 opener against South Korea, Uruguay were well-handled by the Portuguese, controlling only 40 per cent of the possession, although they only narrowly trailed in expected goals 1.33 to 1.27.

Not short on talent, Uruguay fielded a starting XI that included Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez and 135-cap veteran Edinson Cavani up front, while Tottenham’s Rodrigo Betancur partnered Valverde in midfield.

Having played both in central midfield and on the wing for Madrid, Valverde was deployed in the engine room against Portugal, and despite their desperation for goals, Alonso made it clear that is where he feels the 24-year-old is most valuable.

“I think Federico has played full matches with us in the qualifying round,” he said. “He’s played in the same position, even playing higher up.

“I think he played as a defensive midfielder with a second pivot together with Bentancur. It’s the same position that you saw today. He was even playing higher up, or as a wide midfielder.

“I think his main skill is playing through the central lanes. With us, he’s showed a great performance in that position.

“When you talk about shooting, I think he shot once [against Korea], it just missed the top corner. He was unlucky he couldn’t score.

“For us, he’s an important player with many skills. When the team plays better, I’m sure he will shine more.”

Despite their lack of potency going forward, Uruguay still have a chance to advance to the knockout stage if they can defeat Ghana in their final Group H fixture – a rematch from 2010’s quarter-final where Uruguay advanced on penalties.

“We are looking for victory against Ghana, there is no doubt about it,” Alonso said. “If we have to make slight modifications, that is what we’ll do.

“We will provide a team all the weapons we have at hand, so I have full trust in my players. I’m sure the next game will be hard, but we will go all out so that we have a victory and we qualify.

“We are talking about qualifying or not qualifying. It was very important back in [2010], but this is a different situation. It will be a crucial game, but has nothing to do with what happened 12 years ago.

“We need to feel free and move freely as we played during the second half against Korea. We need to gamble more and push forward, playing in between the lines and going for one-on-ones on the sides.

“Sometimes, opponents also play, they stop you, they know which are your main skills and they try to counter your play. But we need to continue trusting our team, our skills, the players we have, and to also give them trust to develop their game.”

World Cup: Real reason Onana was kicked out of Cameroon’s squad

World Cup: Real reason Onana was kicked out of Cameroon’s squad

Cameroon goalkeeper, Andre Onana, will play no further role at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after being kicked out of the squad hours before facing Serbia on Monday.

Onana started Cameroon’s first group match against Switzerland last week, where Breel Embolo’s goal decided the contest.

The 26-year-old had been expected to maintain his place in the side for the clash against Serbia but was a surprising omission not just from the starting XI but from the match-day squad.

However, according to The Athletic, Onana had a falling out with Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song over the weekend and it was ultimately decided that the Inter Milan shot-stopper should leave the World Cup campaign in Qatar.

The report added that things are believed to have gotten heated between Song and Onana during a training session over the weekend when the Cameroon coach asked his goalkeeper to change his style of play.

Onana came through Barcelona’s academy and spent years playing in Ajax’s possession-focused team, with a play style of building up from the back via the keeper.

But Song felt that style didn’t suit his Cameroon team and told Onana to go more direct and not take any risks near his own goalpost, instead wanting to see more ‘traditional’ goalkeeping.

It appeared that Onana did not take too kindly to Song’s suggestion, with the report claiming the pair had a rather significant bust-up.

Onana was eventually replaced in the starting XI with keeper Devis Epassy.

Real Madrid join Chelsea in pursuit of midfielder despite him signing a new contract

Real Madrid join Chelsea in pursuit of midfielder despite him signing a new contract

Real Madrid have joined Chelsea in their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.

Lobotka was linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window with journalist Ciro Venerato, speaking to Area Napoli, claiming the Premier League club made contact with his agent.

A report from Football Italia recently claimed that Labotka had signed a new contract at Napoli which should be announced at some point before the turn of the year, but that hasn’t stopped clubs from showing an interest in signing the midfielder.

More Stories / Latest News

According to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have now entered the race to sign Lobotka.

Real Madrid’s interest doesn’t make too much sense after recently signing Edouardo Camavinga and Auerilien Tchouameni, but Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are now in the latter stages of their career.

Chelsea will be in the market for a new midfielder in the near future, with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho out of contract at the end of the season, and the Premier League club struggling to find consistent form this campaign.

Endrick Real Madrid PSG latest

Endrick Real Madrid PSG latest

Chelsea are “absolutely” one of the teams in the running for the transfer of Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have long been linked with Endrick, but are joined by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in chasing the Brazilian forward, who looks like one of the most exciting prospects in world football right now.

The 16-year-old will surely earn himself a big move before too long, and Romano says there is still not much change as Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSG battle it out for his signature.

The three clubs still have to negotiate with both the player and his club, so it could take some time to make concrete progress on this one, but Romano insists Chelsea are definitely in the race, as things stand.

Endrick in action for Palmeiras

Still, one issue could be that Real Madrid supposedly have an “excellent” relationship with Endrick’s representatives, according to the transfer news expert.

“My understanding is that it is the same three clubs in the race – Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.

“All of them are still in the race, and PSG are the only club to have made an official proposal a few days ago, but from what I am told there is still no agreement with Palmeiras. The clubs will also need to find an agreement with the player and his family, not just his club.

“PSG are still there, Chelsea are absolutely still there, and Real Madrid have an excellent relationship with his agents. Let’s see what happens.”

Chelsea beat Real Madrid to take charge of Champions League group, PSG earn big win

Chelsea beat Real Madrid to take charge of Champions League group, PSG earn big win

Goals from Sophie Ingle and Erin Cuthbert put Chelsea on the verge of qualification from Group A of the Women’s Champions League as they beat Real Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday.

A drab contest at Kingsmeadow came to life after 67 minutes as Ingle got on the end of a Millie Bright flick from a corner to head home, before Cuthbert’s cross from the right flew straight in past the helpless Misa Rodriguez to double the hosts’ advantage just four minutes later.

The win means Chelsea maintain their 100 per cent record from three games, sitting five points ahead of Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who thrashed Vllaznia 5-0 to record their first victory of the campaign.

PSG eased to the win against their Albanian opponents thanks to goals from Grace Geyoro, a Matilda Gjergji own goal, a Ramona Bachmann penalty, Sandy Baltimore and substitute Magnaba Folquet.

In Group B, Roma took an early lead against Wolfsburg through Valentina Giacinti, before Ewa Pajor equalised for the visitors – her fourth Champions League goal in three games – to share the spoils.

St. Polten won their first points of this year’s competition with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Slavia Prague, with Maria Mikolajova scoring a sensational 91st-minute winner for the Austrians.

“I decided to shoot at the very last moment,” Mikolajova said after the game. “I was thinking about passing the ball, but made the right decision. It is hard to describe how I felt when the ball went in because it’s a very important win.”

That leaves Slavia Prague bottom with zero points, three behind St. Polten, while Wolfsburg and Roma remain clear at the top with seven each at the halfway point of the group stage.

Belgium 1-0 Canada: “Hazard don finish” – Nigerians slam Real Madrid, Bayern Munich stars in Red Devils’ narrow win

Belgium 1-0 Canada: “Hazard don finish” – Nigerians slam Real Madrid, Bayern Munich stars in Red Devils’ narrow win

Nigerian fans took no prisoners as they watched the Belgians laboured to a narrow win over the Canadians

Belgium began their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign with a slender 1-0 win over Canada in a Group F clash in front of 40,432 spectators inside the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

In a match with several highlights but few goals, Belgium would consider themselves lucky to claim all three points against the dogged Canadians.

Canada enjoyed most of the ball possessions and won a penalty in the early minutes, only for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies to miss the resultant kick.

The Concacaf representatives could have had two more penalties in the first half. However, Axel Witsel and Eden Hazard had the referee and the linesman to thank for overlooking their errors.

And former Chelsea man Michy Batshuayi made Canada pay for their missed chances, scoring what turned out to be the winner – his 29th goal for his nation – shortly before the halftime break.

Nigerian-born defender Samuel Adekugbe came off the bench to make his World Cup debut for Canada, but former Super Eagles’ interest Ike Ugbo did not make it to the pitch.

But despite Canada’s best efforts after the break, Belgium held firm for their first win in Qatar.

Nigerian fans reactions

Several Nigerian fans, however, vented their frustrations with some players’ displays on the social media website Twitter.

One of the players who received a lot of flak from Nigerians was Eden Hazard.

While Hazard was nowhere near his best version, the Belgian captain still delivered a decent performance.

But one poor Hazard back pass nearly led to a penalty for Canada, and a Twitter user felt the Real Madrid man was past his prime.

Another user recommended that Hazard be donated to Nigeria’s Super Falcons instead of captaining Belgium.

Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies was also not spared after the defender missed the chance to hand Canada an early lead from the penalty spot.

Referring to Germany’s shocking defeat to Japan earlier in the day, a user wrote, “Instead of Alphonso Davies to rest in the afternoon and focus on demma match against Belgium, he went to Germany hotel to console Musiala, Canada coach should comort him from the match.”

There was recognised applause, though, for Canada and their daring style of football.

Belgium, with the win, go to the top of Group F following Morocco’s drab draw with Croatia in the other group match on Wednesday afternoon.

England 6-2 Iran: What Were The Main Talking Points As The Three Lions Lay Down A Real World Cup Marker In Doha?

England 6-2 Iran: What Were The Main Talking Points As The Three Lions Lay Down A Real World Cup Marker In Doha?

While England might have endured a public struggle when opening this year’s World Cup adventure, the Three Lions laid down what was a stellar marker in Doha on Monday afternoon.

Although some might have feared that Gareth Southgate’s side could face a potential banana skin when opening their Group B run, the European giants breezed their way to a thumping 6-2 romp against Iran at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Tipped as a standout pick to cruise their way to the knockout stage without breaking much of a sweat, goals from Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and a Bukayo Saka brace clinched an empathic victory for England.

Putting in a performance that would have certainly been noted by camps across Qatar, we have taken a look at the main talking points as Southgate’s side made quite the statement in Doha.

A dream opener for England

While England might have signed off their pre-World Cup preparations with an action-packed 3-3 draw against Germany during September’s international break, that result didn’t cover what had been an extended blip.

Shockingly failing to win any of their six Nations League appearances this year and losing their League A status, the Three Lions were also enduring their longest winless run since way back in 1993.

However, although some might have believed that Southgate’s superstars could face a rugged test on Monday afternoon, fans back home should be excited by a rampant display here.

Desperate to go one step further after clinching a semi-final finish out in Russia four years ago, England would have simply been relieved to have drawn a line under their 2022 struggles.

Storming their way to a 3-0 lead heading into the half-time break, the European heavyweights must now use this display as a platform to build on.

Although the tougher tests will certainly be waiting down the line for Southgate’s squad, England will take plenty of positives away from a thumping performance in the Middle East.

Saka & Bellingham spearhead England’s charge

Although England might have opened their World Cup adventure with many believing that Harry Kane will have a crucial role to play in Qatar, it was Southgate’s youngsters who stole all of the headlines on Monday afternoon.

With the red-hot Bellingham opening the scoring after 35 minutes with a smart glanced header, the Borussia Dortmund talisman is expected to make his own statement this year.

Only continuing to cement his spot as one of world football’s most sort after young talents, the 19-year-old finds his stock at an all-time high and it is no secret that he has a host of Premier League suitors waiting in the wings.

However, while the ex-Birmingham prodigy might have bagged his first international strike here, it was the sensational Saka who wrote his own piece of history in Doha.

Spearheading an Arsenal side that find themselves at the heart of a shock Premier League title chase this season, the Gunners’ homegrown star put in a real Man of the Match display here.

Becoming the youngest England player in history to bag a World Cup brace, Saka has underlined his value as one of Southgate’s key players.

Southgate will still be seeking some stability at the back

While England might have enjoyed what was a clinical start to their World Cup adventure in Doha, there is no doubt that Southgate will still be seeking some defensive stability from his side over the next month.

Losing their elite Nations League status and gaining somewhat of a reputation for their issues at the back, England were frustrated to have once again been breached on Monday afternoon.

With Manchester United defender Harry Maguire failing to gain much first-team action over recent weeks, the Three Lions were left exposed on a handful of occasions throughout the second-half.

Along with watching Mehdi Taremi bag his own famous brace in Doha after returning from the interval, England were also lucky as Bayer Leverkusen striker Sardar Azmoun saw his late effort rebound off the crossbar.

Although the mood in England’s camp will rightfully be at a red-hot high following their clinical Group B opener, Southgate will know that his side must find a way to plug their leaky defence after recording just a single clean sheet from their previous seven appearances.

Fabrizio Romano comments on Manchester United star’s transfer links with Real Madrid

Fabrizio Romano comments on Manchester United star’s transfer links with Real Madrid

Fabrizio Romano insists he’s not aware of Manchester United misfit Cristiano Ronaldo being offered to Real Madrid, despite transfer rumours to the contrary.

The Portugal international has struggled for playing time at Man Utd this season, and it seems inevitable that he will be shown the door at Old Trafford after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Still, Romano doesn’t seem convinced that a return to Real Madrid is on the cards right now, with Los Blancos not looking likely to make any signings during the January transfer window, as manager Carlo Ancelotti has previously made clear.

Ronaldo, however, could be a good short-term signing to help Real ensure they have cover for the injured Karim Benzema, who has just been dealt the blow of missing the World Cup with France.

Cristiano Ronaldo will surely be leaving Manchester United

“I’ve seen reports from the Spanish press about Cristiano Ronaldo being offered to Real Madrid,” Romano said.

“I’ll be looking into this, but at the moment I don’t have this information about Ronaldo and Real Madrid, while Carlo Ancelotti has also stated many times that they’re not going sign players in January.

More Stories / Latest News

“At the moment, there are no negotiations ongoing – we will see.”

United fans will hope the Ronaldo saga can be resolved as soon as possible as it’s been such a big distraction for Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag in his first season in charge of the club.

Exclusive: Update on major transfer battle between Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea & Real Madrid

Exclusive: Update on major transfer battle between Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea & Real Madrid

Fabrizio Romano has provided an exclusive update on the Jude Bellingham transfer situation in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside’s Substack.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is likely to be one of the most sought after players on the market next summer, with Romano naming Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid as being the clubs in the race for his signature.

Bellingham has shone as one of the finest young players in world football during his time at Dortmund, and he’ll now also be key for the England national team at this winter’s FIFA World Cup.

Romano has addressed some speculation that Real Madrid don’t want to pay Bellingham’s asking price, insisting it’s too early to be sure what Dortmund’s demands will even be.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and City would no doubt love to be ahead of the Spanish giants in the race for Bellingham’s signature, but it seems it’s still a bit premature to rule Los Blancos out of the race for the England international.

Jude Bellingham celebrates a goal

Romano said: “I’ve seen the claim that Real Madrid are not ready to pay Borussia Dortmund’s asking price for Jude Bellingham, but here’s my understanding of the situation…”

“There’s no asking price yet for Bellingham. It will be decided in 2023. Real Madrid will be in the race alongside Liverpool, Manchester City and also Chelsea for Bellingham; it’s still not time to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund, this will happen in 2023.

“Contacts are just on the player’s side as of now, so I wouldn’t read too much into what the club’s demands could be just yet, as it will be decided later.”

Where next for Jude Bellingham?

Real Madrid tend to make a habit of signing the world’s biggest names, and Bellingham could be an ideal ‘Galactico’ purchase for them as they look to rebuild their midfield.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga are two other top young talents who’ve come in in recent times, but they could also do with adding Bellingham to help them eventually replace ageing duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Still, Liverpool could also be serious contenders as they are another team who look in need of blooding in a new generation, with Bellingham looking like he could be the perfect long-term successor to ageing stars like Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara.

Could Jude Bellingham follow Erling Haaland to Man City?

The 19-year-old would also surely do an important job for Chelsea, who are chasing some of the world’s best young players under new owner Todd Boehly, including Endrick, Arsen Zakharyan and Romeo Lavia.

It’s been a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge so far, so if the Blues could win the race for Bellingham it could be a huge boost for their hopes of bouncing back next year.

More Stories / Latest News

Man City, meanwhile, will surely want to avoid missing out on a talent like Bellingham, especially if Liverpool or Chelsea get there first.

Pep Guardiola could do with replacing Ilkay Gundogan, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, while Kalvin Phillips has also not made the desired impact at the club so far.

Pochettino blasts ‘immature’ Mbappe and hints that PSG striker wanted to join Real Madrid

Pochettino blasts ‘immature’ Mbappe and hints that PSG striker wanted to join Real Madrid

Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he thinks Kylian Mbappe is “immature” and hints he wanted to join Real Madrid.

Pochettino managed Mbappe for 18 months. During that time, links between the French striker and European giants Real Madrid emerged.

While he remained a PSG player, thanks to a massive contract renewal that will see him stay in Paris until 2025, Pochettino has hinted that Mbappe wanted that move, and he might be affected by not getting that chance.

The former PSG manager also touched on the lack of maturity that the striker currently has.

“Mbappe is younger [than Lionel Messi and Neymar] and still immature,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Leo, Ney, and even Benzema are stable, they have found the maturity that Mbappe has not yet reached. He is evolving. We have not yet to see the best version of him.

“We will see how this process will be affected by what has happened in recent months, with the failure move to Real Madrid.”

Indeed, a move to Real would have been massive for Mbappe. Some of the world’s very best players have honed their craft and got themselves to that level while playing in La Liga.

However, Mbappe does not seem to have faltered since signing his new deal with PSG. He has scored 12 Ligue 1 goals this season, making him the league’s top scorer.

On top of that, he has bagged seven times and provided three assists in six Champions League games so far. The quality is clear to see, and Pochettino acknowledges that, but questions a few elements of his game.

“He is an animal; he has great charisma but he still needs to find himself. Leo and Ney are total players, they are more responsible although in different ways, while Kylian keeps looking for himself,” he said.

“It is difficult for him to distinguish the moments of the game when he has to take a risk and when he should not. He does not enjoy association with his teammates unless he’s in the defensive third of the pitch, because he needs space to make the most of his strengths.”

“Kylian finds no pleasure in having the ball, he only enjoys it when he can run and finish. He is a fast player who needs to see a hare in front of him in order to [have the motivation] catch it.”

Of course, that is what makes him such a good goalscorer, and one of the world’s best. Should he add the elements of his game that his former manager mentioned, he will surely be seen as an even better player.

A.C. Milan Hall of Famer hints Super Eagles striker is wanted in Real Madrid

A.C. Milan Hall of Famer hints Super Eagles striker is wanted in Real Madrid

The Nigeria international has just been named the best young player in European football following his performances in Italy

Former AC Milan manager Fabio Capello has suggested that Real Madrid may swoop for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the coming transfer window.

Osimhen’s transfer value is going over the roof, with only the wealthiest clubs in the world likely to be able to afford the Nigerian forward.

The 23-year-old recently reached a career-high €70 million following a string of exceptional performances in Europe.

With eight goals, Osimhen is the top scorer in the Italian Serie A. Last month, the Super Eagles ace became Nigeria’s all-time highest-scoring player in the Italian top flight.

A key figure in a high-flying Napoli side, Osimhen has also been named the best young player at the Global Soccer awards in Dubai.

Italian Football and AC Milan Hall of Famer Fabio Capello was at the ceremony, where he opined that Chelsea great Didier Drogba had more quality than Osimhen.

Capello also believes Milan forward Rafael Leao is classier than Osimhen.

But the 76-year-old agrees that Osimhen is a proper centre-forward, and he hints that several clubs, among which could be Real Madrid, are after the Nigerian star.

“Drogba was also awarded… The perfect example, even if he had more technique and quality. But Osimhen is young; he can improve,” Capello told Sky Sport (via TMW).

“Leao has more class, but Osimhen is a centre-forward, one who scores; he has the qualities to be a crack.

“I’ve heard rumors here in Dubai; De Laurentiis (Napoli owner, Aurelio) needs to straighten his antennas. I know several here… Real Madrid? I won’t name names, not even under torture.”

Osimhen joined Napoli in an African transfer record deal in 2020.

Rumour Has It: Liverpool take the lead in Jude Bellingham race as Real Madrid scoff at asking price

Rumour Has It: Liverpool take the lead in Jude Bellingham race as Real Madrid scoff at asking price

Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to land prized Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham after rumours that Real Madrid are not willing to meet the €150million asking price.

Bellingham, 19, has emerged as one of the top prospects in world football, scoring in four consecutive games to begin his side’s Champions League campaign this season, including one against Manchester City.

Already with 17 caps for England, Bellingham is expected to play a major role at the World Cup and a virtuoso performance could sway some of the world’s biggest clubs into bidding what would be a world-record fee for an Englishman.

TOP STORY – REAL MADRID SCOFF AT BELLINGHAM ASKING PRICE, LEAVING DOOR AJAR FOR LIVERPOOL

According to a report from Sport, Bellingham is Real Madrid’s priority signing at the end of the season, but they have no intention of meeting Dortmund’s initial valuation.

Madrid are said to be Bellingham’s preference as well, and the club will try to negotiate the final price down to what they deem a more acceptable figure.

Liverpool have no qualms with what would be a club-record signing, and previous reports claim Manchester United also feel they are in with a chance once they get Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract off their books.

– MLS teams may be able to afford Cristiano Ronaldo after the league agreed to a $250m television rights deal with Apple TV, per iNews.

– Mundo Deportivo is reporting Atletico Madrid have strong interest in Braga forward Abel Ruiz, and wish to bring him to the club in a loan deal in January that includes a compulsory buy-clause.

– According to El Observador, 20-year-old Uruguayan talent Facundo Pellistri could leave Manchester United in January in search of first-team football.

‘Real Madrid? I don’t do names’ – Ex-England boss reveals he heard rumours about Osimhen

Former England coach Fabio Capello has urged Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis to be more sensitive as regards to Victor Osimhen.

Capello disclosed that during the Globe Soccer Awards held in Dubai, he was opportune to hear some transfer rumours linking Osimhen to top clubs.

Osimhen has been in brilliant form this season, scoring nine goals and two assists in eleven Italian topflight games.

“(Didier) Drogba was also awarded… The case in point is that, even if he had more technique and quality,” Capello said to Tuttomercatoweb, according to Tribalfootball.

“But Osimhen is young, he can improve. (Rafael) Leao has more class, but Osimhen is a centre-forward, one who scores, has the qualities to be a crack.

“I heard rumours here in Dubai, De Laurentiis needs to straighten the antennas. Here I know several… Real Madrid? I don’t do names, not even under torture.”

The 23-year-old was one of the awardees during the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, beating two players of Nigerian descent Bukayo Saka and Jamal Musiala, and sixteen other talented youngsters to the Emerging Player Of The Year.

The Super Eagles striker has been linked with possible moves to clubs in the English Premier League, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

However the President of the Naples based club will only entertain an offer in the region of €100 million for the forward.

Osimhen’s five year contract with Napoli is valid up until the summer of 2025, with approximately two and a half years remaining.

Hazard speaks on leaving Real Madrid in 2023, denies Chelsea return

Hazard speaks on leaving Real Madrid in 2023, denies Chelsea return

Real Madrid attacking midfielder, Eden Hazard, has insisted that it is possible for him to leave the club in the summer of 2023.

Hazard also claimed that Chelsea have never attempted to re-sign him.

The Belgium international has struggled with constant injury issues since he joined Real Madrid from Chelsea back in 2019.

When asked if Chelsea have ever asked for him to return to Stamford Bridge, Hazard told Marca: “No.”

He added, “In January, it is impossible [for me to leave Real Madrid], because I have family and I like the city.

“But in summer, it’s possible that I go. I’ve one more year on my contract, and it’s the club’s decision.

“If the club tells me, ‘Eden, thanks for four years, but you’ve to go’, I have to accept it because it is normal.

“But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player.”

Eden Hazard will accept Real Madrid exit if club want injury-hit Belgian to go

Eden Hazard will accept Real Madrid exit if club want injury-hit Belgian to go

Eden Hazard wants to salvage his Real Madrid career but would have no complaints if the club asked him to leave at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea winger has endured a dismal time in Spain, with a string of injuries ruining his hopes of transferring his Premier League form to LaLiga.

Now Hazard has a big chance to show what he can do on a different stage, as he prepares to play a part for Belgium at the World Cup in Qatar.

Set to turn 32 in January, Hazard has managed only two goals and one assist in 15 games for Madrid in 2022, starting a mere four times and playing just 532 minutes in the first team. He has a little over 18 months left on his contract.

Considering Hazard won the Silver Ball at the 2018 World Cup, as the second-best player in the tournament, it has been a staggering descent from main man to bit-part player.

Hazard was Chelsea’s player of the year in his final campaign at Stamford Bridge, the 2018-19 season, and he has backed himself to hit similar heights again, given an injury-free run.

Speaking to Marca, Hazard said: “I have to prove to everyone that I can play football. People have doubts about what I can do, but I don’t.”

He described himself as “a good player who just has to play more football”, and can see why there are those who doubt him.

“It is normal. I am a player who has not played many games in three years. I can understand it,” he said.

“I don’t play, but being a Real Madrid player was my dream as a child and after this year I have another season on my contract. I want to play for this club, with this shirt.”

All the same, Hazard is a realist and would not want to overstay his welcome.

He says a January move away from Madrid would be “impossible, because I have family and I like the city”.

“But in the summer it is possible that I go,” he said.

“If the club tells me: ‘Eden, thanks for four years, but you have to go’, I have to accept it because it’s normal. But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player.”
