Tomiyasu Not Satisfied After Losing Position To Ben White
Arsenal defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu has revealed that he is ‘not satisfied’ to be out of the team’s first eleven this season after losing his place at right-back to Ben White but promised to ‘work hard’ to get into the starting lineup again.
Tomiyasu signed for Arsenal from Serie A side Bologna last season and made a good early impression, starting 20 games under Mikel Arteta, as the club fought for Champions League football.
The Japanese player started to lose grip of his first team shirt after he picked up a calf injury last season, which ruled him out for nine games.
Arsenal management strengthened the team this summer to seek champions league football again and do well in other competitions they are involved in. These signings have pushed Tomiyasu out of the first team, and he has only played as a substitute in the league this season.
Tomiyasu revealed he could not hide his frustration as he agreed that the Premier League’s standards are exceptionally high.
‘What is required in this league is quite high, and I’m not satisfied.’
‘When you look at the players selected as starters in the premier league games, you will understand what is required to be there. I will work hard in order to get my position back.’

Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, has emphasised that Tomiyasu fits in his plans this season and is trying to give the player more minutes.
While fielding questions from journalists after Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Aston Villa last month, the head coach said: ‘We are really happy that we are loading some minutes into him and he’s responding really well.
‘He’s been training now for weeks without any issues which is the first period he’s been able to do that in the last six or seven months, and you can see the way he played today when he came on – I think he was really good,’ he stated.
