When Rohr lost the support of Pinnick – Score Nigeria

Gernot Rohr is all but out of his Super Eagles job after he lost his biggest supporter – NFF President Amaju Pinnick – this month, a very top source informed SCORENigeria

Pinnick has stood solidly behind the Franco-German coach even coming in direct confrontation with Sports Minister Sunday Dare several times as a result.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back (as it concerns the relationship between Pinnick and Rohr) was when both men clashed over playing some of the Super Eagles players for the full duration of the match against Liberia in Morocco even when these players were just coming back from injuries,” the source told SCORENigeria

“Rohr made it clear he was in charge of the team and whatever the president thought was just his own opinion.

“It was not an amusing situation to say the least as big egos were seriously bruised.”

It was further reported that the patience of Pinnick wore thin while he was he defending the coach.

“The president came out and said he was tired of standing by the coach and always making excuses for him despite widespread criticisms,” the source explained.

Besides continued questions over his tactics, officials also maintained that Rohr has lost the dressing room and so the high-level of indiscipline in training camp.

That would explain the many female guests who visited the players at their Lagos hotel the night before the crucial World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde Tuesday.

Rohr could not take charge to check this episode and it needed a senior player to call the attention of the NFF president to what was going on in camp.
